Recipe Hunter (Mn.)
America's Favorite Wild Game Recipes (The Hunting & Fishing Library)

I received this book as a gift many years ago and have enjoyed it very much. All the recipes I have tried have been delicious. It has a good variety of wild game and a list of substitute game. Now I have purchased two more for gifts as well.

My hubby LOVES this book. He took it to work with him, and someone else loved it so much, they took it! My husband was furious....so I got him another one. It doesn't leave the house! LOL

My husband enjoys hunting and cooking what he hunts. This book is prefect for him. It gets me out of the kitchen. We received the book in great shape.

If you're looking to cook up some wild game brought home by your camo sport'en, shotgun haul'en, wildlife hunter, this is the only book you're going to need. This cook book covers any wild animal you might see in the woods, stream, or back yard, and gives wild game renditions of popular recipes from across the country. Some of my favorites are Spring Spring Rolls of wild duck, Moose Meatballs with Cranberry Barbecue Sauce, Sour Cream Rabbit with Herbs, Squirrel Pot Pie, Dove a l'Orange, and Elk Camp Roast. This book has beautifully colored detailed pictures of every recipe, and easy to read directions including per serving health information. This is a full size book but is loaded with all the extras. In the back, it even gives fool proof picture and descriptions on the how to's of wild game sausage grinding, seasoning, and stuffing. There are also some incredible recipes for jerky NOT TO BE MISSED! Try the Dakota Jack Hot Venison Jerky! This is a must have cook book for the outdoorsman! Although this book isn't as compact as I was hoping, now that I have it, I wouldn't want to have sacreficed any of the pictures or recipes because it covers everything and is complete! My husband is going to be busy hunting this fall so I can keep my kitchen full of flavorful smells! Tell Auntie Mae off of the Beverly Hillibilly's that there's a new chef in town and I can match her possum belly stew!

RECOMMENDED!

Because my husband's middle name is "hunter", we own numerous related cookbooks--this is THE best! Quality photos display taste-tempting serving suggestions for everything imaginable, including woodcock, javelina, squirrel and raccoon. We haven't prepared a 'loser' yet! Leave common recipes, booklets and media food editors behind and let this become your resource. An excellent gift idea!
